Should I choose a four-hour or six-hour fishing charter in Destin?
Destin Inshore Guides offers four-hour, five-hour and six-hour standard fishing trips. Choose the time around your group, your interest in fishing and the rest of your day. Bay and nearshore Gulf trips offer different kinds of fishing, so decide on the trip style as well as the clock. More hours do not guarantee more fish.
Decide what the extra time is for
Ask yourself what you want from the day before selecting the longest option. A group trying fishing for the first time may want a different commitment from anglers planning their vacation around time on the water. Describe those priorities when you inquire, and ask how the available durations fit the fishing the captain recommends.
Compare the trip itself, not just a number of hours. Bay fishing uses light tackle around Choctawhatchee Bay and the intracoastal waterway. Nearshore fishing works the Gulf with trolling or bottom fishing.
Plan for the people who are coming
Consider every person in the party when choosing time aboard. Include any questions about your group’s needs when you contact the operator. If young children are the focus, discuss the specialized kids options instead of assuming a standard fishing trip is the right starting point.
Leave room in your planning for the marina meeting details and your own travel arrangements. Confirm the actual departure before scheduling another activity afterward. The listed duration helps you choose a booking, but it is not a guarantee of a particular species, number of fishing spots or amount of time with a fish on the line.
Common questions
Is there an option between four and six hours?
Yes. The published standard trip options also include 5 hours. Contact the operator with your preferred date and fishing style.
Do longer trips include different equipment?
The operator lists rods, reels, bait, tackle, ice and the group license as provided for fishing trips. The provided-equipment list is separate from the choice of duration.
Is the longest standard trip necessary for kids?
The operator offers separate 2-hour and 3-hour kids trips. Discuss those options if introducing children to fishing is the main purpose of your day.
